“God is the only goal I have today.”
Today’s lesson starts by saying:
The way to God is through forgiveness here. There is no other way. (W-pII.256.1:1)
The shackles of unforgiveness are holding you down. The bonds of holding on to a grievance bind you, not the other person and the situation they are a part of. The chains of “shouldn’t” are keeping you prisoner, not a given situation.
Anything that you would hold against anyone or anything keeps you from rejoining your free estate. Postponing setting all of it free only serves to keep you in the dark longer.
You cannot possibly know all the ins and outs of each situation you experience, and so any assessment regarding “should” or “shouldn’t” does not have a solid basis. Instead, when you understand that the image is a loop that is spun by the ego mind that you have allowed access to your mind, you will be able to set the situation free from any blame or sense of guilt or sin that you may have been tempted to burden it with. It is in your mind that the release must come. Forgiveness is the only way to achieving God as your goal today.
