The Course teaches that the world you see is the outer reflection of the inner condition of the mind. You will experience and see that which your mind is focused on.
Your focus is in function of your assessment of who you are and of what is truly important, what truly matters. That assessment feeds on the information you get through your focus. This results in self-perpetuating loops that characterize the type of thinking that is in line with the ego-thought system.
Thankfully, that is not all. No matter what the images in the world may present to you, a tiny God-given flame within you keeps on spreading its Light. And that little Light will keep on finding its reflection in images in the world.
And so, when the images presented to you by the loops of the ego thought system are troubling you, you will find relief by focusing instead on the Light that shines in your inner being and the Light that shines in images in the world. They are the same Light: emanating from you, the Light is reflected back to you. They are the “echoes of the Voice for God”.
The power to decide to search for that Light, to focus on it and move in harmony with it, that “power of decision” is entirely your own.
