ACIM Workbook lesson 170

There is no cruelty in God and none in me.”

There is no cruelty in anyone. There is only perceiving under the spell of a misunderstanding that cries for release. Responding within the framework of a misunderstanding solidifies it in your experience. That is why today’s text says:

You make what you defend against, and by your own defense against it is it real and inescapable. Lay down your arms, and only then do you perceive it false. (W-pI.170.3)

The sense that you may have that many people subscribe to a perceived disturbance is a trick the misunderstanding is playing on you to make it more palatable. Whether or not one other person or entire nations seem to be caught in a misunderstanding does not change its character. The fact that you now experience it means that it is now up for release. Set the people you think are involved free, set the situation free – free from your own erroneous thinking. And then grace will gather all involved up in its embrace, and you will all wake up to your true nature: innocence, willingness, love and joy in expression.
