To the world’s way of thinking gratitude implies a hierarchy. In order to avoid thinking in hierarchical terms the word appreciation is often preferred. Appreciation is a wonderful creative quality that is a perfect antidote to judgment.
Gratitude as a creative quality, however, takes appreciation one step further. Gratitude is appreciation that acknowledges the impact the person or situation that inspired it has on you. Thus gratitude has an added receptive quality to it. In addition, gratitude has the component of humility and openness. Gratitude blossoms in the absence of an agenda other than receiving and appreciating the Light it meets and connects with.
